Rising Artists

On the weekend of June 14, the Moody Center in Austin, Texas, hosted an extraordinary performance by Noah Kahan both Friday and Saturday nights, exceeding all expectations and delivering an unforgettable experience for fans. We had the pleasure of attending the show on Saturday and can’t wait to dive into what an incredible experience this was. Kahan, known for his heartfelt lyrics and charismatic stage presence, treated the audience to a night that was as much about connection and community as it was about music.

Opening with the crowd favorite “Dial Drunk,” Kahan set an energetic tone that resonated throughout the night. The song, a classic familiar to many from countless radio plays, immediately engaged the audience, showcasing Kahan's ability to connect with his fans from the very first note. Transitioning seamlessly into “New Perspective,” Kahan then surprised the crowd with his first comedy set of the evening.

One of the most poignant moments of the night came with the performance of “Everywhere, Everything.” The heartfelt delivery stirred emotions throughout the arena, transforming the vast space into an intimate setting. This intimacy was further emphasized as Kahan performed “Come Over” in a stage setup reminiscent of his mom’s living room, creating a cozy, personal atmosphere that resonated deeply with the crowd. He also joked how although the set is supposed to be his mom’s living room, he “couldn’t fit all the generational trauma up there”.

Kahan’s ability to balance emotion with humor was evident as he introduced “Your Needs, My Needs” with a witty quip about Zoloft. His banter was relatable and timely, reflecting the shared experiences of many in the audience. The subsequent tracks from his latest album continued to captivate, showcasing Kahan’s versatility and growth as an artist.

A standout moment of the concert was when Kahan ventured into the crowd for a surprise acoustic rendition of “Strawberry Wine” on stage B after reading a fan’s sign asking for him to play the song. This intimate performance highlighted his genuine connection with his fans, leaving a lasting impression on everyone present.

Returning to the main stage, Kahan continued with a series of hits, culminating in a powerful rendition of “Call Your Mom.” The entire arena joined in, creating a unifying, emotional experience that left many, including myself, in tears. This collective moment of singing and shared emotion was another testament to Kahan’s profound impact on his audience.

The evening concluded with a memorable performance of “Stick Season.” This hit was the perfect finale to a night filled with laughter, tears, and unforgettable musical moments.

In reflection, Noah Kahan’s concert was not just a performance but a representation of the power of music and community. His ability to blend humor, emotion, and exceptional musical talent made for an experience that will be remembered by all who attended.
