Skegss Brings High Energy Surf Punk to Austin

Australian surf-punk trio Skegss brought their high energy to Austin on April 1st with an electrifying performance at Scoot Inn. Known for their high energy, sound, and carefree attitude, the band consisting of Ben Reed (vocals, guitar), Toby Cregan (bass), and Jonny Lani (drums) performed a set that had the crowd moshing from start to finish.

Since their formation, Skegss has carved out a niche in the indie and punk scenes with their mix of garage rock grit and playful songs. Their DIY ethos and anthemic tracks have earned them a dedicated global following, leading to chart-topping albums, well ticketed tours, and a reputation for wild live shows.
The night kicked off with an opening set from Twen, a dynamic duo whose dreamlike indie rock provided a contrast to Skegss' high energy sound. Their hypnotic melodies and harmonies drew the crowd in, setting the perfect tone for what was to come of this Tuesday night at the Historic Scoot Inn.

When Skegss took the stage, the energy shifted into overdrive. Fans sang along to every lyric through a setlist that spanned their early hits and latest releases. Songs like "Spring Has Sprung," "Save It For The Weekend," and "Up In The Clouds" ignited the crowd, while their signature laid-back charm made the performance feel like a giant house party.
With a mix of nostalgia, rebellion, and pure fun, Skegss proved why they’re one of Australia’s most exciting exports. Their stop at the usually chill and acoustic Scoot Inn was a testament to the band’s ability to turn any venue into a loud celebration of music, movement, and good vibes!
