Gigi Perez: Music, Vulnerability, and the Power to Heal

Gigi Perez understands the profound impact a song can have on a person’s life. With her raw lyrics, the New York-based singer-songwriter captures moments of grief, longing, and resilience that her growing fan base can relate to.

A Journey from Grief to Breakthrough

Gigi’s breakthrough came in early 2021 with the release of “Celene,” a tribute to her older sister who passed away that same year. The song poured out after a night of emotional reckoning and caught the attention of listeners worldwide.

Following the success of “Celene,” Gigi released “Sometimes (Backwood),” a hauntingly beautiful track that blends dream-pop vibes with bedroom pop sensibilities. A clip of Gigi playing it on TikTok went viral, leading to over 50 million streams on Spotify, proving her music’s magnetic pull on listeners.

A Debut EP Rooted in Vulnerability

Gigi’s debut EP, produced by Grammy®-winning songwriter Jennifer Decilveo, is a seven-song exploration of romance and introspection. Its lead single, “The Man,” captures Gigi’s longing and vulnerability with lyrics that ache for connection. Other tracks, like “When She Smiles” and “Glue,” showcase her talent for intricate metaphor and lyricism, painting vivid emotional landscapes that invite listeners to get lost in her world.

With a background in folk and indie music, Gigi’s songwriting evolved from her time in the fuzz-folk band Wendy Lane and the influences of her teenage years in Florida. She briefly attended Berklee College of Music, but it was in New York that she truly found her voice and the sound that now defines her work. Her EP offers solace and a sense of understanding for listeners who find comfort in her deeply personal lyrics and melodies.
